The disclosure relates to a pre-5-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to provide for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4-Generation (4G) communication system. A method performed by a distributed unit (DU) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes transmitting one or more data streams of a message of a control plane or a user plane, which correspond to one or more layers, to a radio unit (RU) through a first fronthaul port, and transmitting a data stream corresponding to an access layer, which is the first layer used for connection of a cell among the one or more layers, to the RU through a second fronthaul port configured between the DU and the RU.
