DISPLAY DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18132850 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a display device that includes a touch sensing area and an input sensing circuit. The input sensing circuit determines whether an external input occurred on the touch sensing area based on sensing signals from the sensing electrodes.

  • The display device includes a display panel and a sensor substrate.
  • The sensor substrate is placed on the display panel and has a touch sensing area.
  • Sensing electrodes and antenna sets are located on the touch sensing area of the sensor substrate.
  • An input sensing circuit is used to sense external inputs based on the sensing signals from the sensing electrodes.
  • The input sensing circuit determines if the external input occurred on the area where the antenna sets are placed in the touch sensing area.

Potential Applications

  • Touchscreen devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
  • Interactive displays in public spaces like museums, exhibitions, and retail stores.
  • Gaming consoles and virtual reality devices.

Problems Solved

  • Accurate detection of external inputs on specific areas of a touch sensing area.
  • Improved functionality and responsiveness of touchscreens.
  • Reduction of false touch inputs.

Benefits

  • Enhanced user experience with more precise touch input detection.
  • Increased reliability and accuracy of touchscreens.
  • Improved performance and functionality of interactive displays.
  • Reduction of unintended touch inputs.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes: a display panel; a sensor substrate disposed on the display panel, the sensor substrate including a touch sensing area; sensing electrodes and antenna sets, disposed on the touch sensing area of the sensor substrate; and an input sensing circuit for sensing an external input based on sensing signals from the sensing electrodes. The input sensing circuit determines whether the external input occurred on an area in which the antenna sets are disposed in the touch sensing area, based on the sensing signals.
