Ink Jet Ink Composition And Ink Receiving Body - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18127036 titled 'Ink Jet Ink Composition And Ink Receiving Body

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an ink jet ink composition that includes a sublimation dye, an anionic dispersant, and an anionic surfactant. The sublimation dye can be selected from a group of specific dyes, and the anionic surfactant can be selected from a group of specific surfactants.

  • The ink composition includes a sublimation dye, which is a type of dye that can transition directly from a solid to a gas without becoming a liquid.
  • The composition also includes an anionic dispersant, which helps to disperse the dye particles evenly throughout the ink.
  • An anionic surfactant is included in the composition, which helps to reduce the surface tension of the ink and improve its wetting properties.

Potential Applications

  • This ink composition can be used in inkjet printers to produce high-quality prints with vibrant colors.
  • The sublimation dye allows for printing on a variety of materials, including textiles, ceramics, and plastics.
  • The composition's ability to disperse the dye particles evenly ensures consistent color reproduction in the printed images.

Problems Solved

  • Traditional inkjet inks may not be suitable for printing on certain materials or achieving vibrant colors.
  • Uneven dispersion of dye particles can result in inconsistent color reproduction in printed images.
  • Poor wetting properties of the ink can lead to issues such as clogging of printer nozzles or uneven ink absorption by the printing substrate.

Benefits

  • The use of sublimation dyes allows for printing on a wide range of materials, expanding the possibilities for creative applications.
  • The even dispersion of dye particles ensures consistent and accurate color reproduction in printed images.
  • The improved wetting properties of the ink contribute to better print quality and reduce the risk of printing issues.
