BASE STATION, TERMINAL APPARATUS, METHOD, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18113955 titled 'BASE STATION, TERMINAL APPARATUS, METHOD, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for a base station that can identify a beam to be used by a terminal apparatus while minimizing radio resource usage.

  • Information obtaining section: Obtains obtainable information for both the base station and terminal apparatus, excluding communication quality information and beam identifiers.
  • Beam selecting section: Selects a transmit beam for the terminal apparatus from multiple candidate beams based on the obtainable information.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in telecommunications, specifically in optimizing beam selection for efficient communication between base stations and terminal devices.

Problems Solved

1. Efficient beam selection: Reducing radio resource usage by selecting the most suitable beam for communication. 2. Improved connectivity: Enhancing the connection quality between base stations and terminal devices by optimizing beam selection.

Benefits

1. Enhanced performance: By selecting the best beam for communication, the system can achieve better connectivity and overall performance. 2. Resource efficiency: Minimizing radio resource usage leads to more efficient utilization of network resources.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing beam selection in 5G networks Improving connectivity in IoT devices through efficient beam selection

Unanswered Questions

How does the base station obtain obtainable information for beam selection?

What criteria are used to select the transmit beam for the terminal apparatus?

Original Abstract Submitted

In order to enable a terminal apparatus to identify a beam to be used by a base station, while reducing radio resource use, a base station of the present invention includes: an information obtaining section configured to obtain obtainable information obtainable for both the base station and a terminal apparatus , the obtainable information being neither communication quality information nor an identifier indicating a transmit beam for transmission to the terminal apparatus ; and a beam selecting section configured to select a transmit beam for transmission to the terminal apparatus , from among a plurality of candidate transmit beams, based on the obtainable information.
