METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CAPTURING ENHANCED MEDIA IN REAL-TIME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18107054 titled 'METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CAPTURING ENHANCED MEDIA IN REAL-TIME

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods and systems for switching between a macro and a non-macro sensing mode in real-time to capture macro and non-macro media. Here are the key points:

  • The method involves acquiring at least one frame of data.
  • The operation mode of the electronic device is determined based on focus data and blur data from the frame.
  • The operation mode can be either a macro sensing mode or a non-macro sensing mode.
  • An image sensor is used to acquire at least one image corresponding to the determined operation mode.
  • The electronic device may have multiple image sensors to capture different types of media.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Photography: This technology can be used in cameras or smartphones to automatically switch between macro and non-macro modes, allowing users to capture detailed close-up shots as well as regular photos.
  • Document scanning: The ability to switch between macro and non-macro modes can be useful for scanning documents, enabling users to capture high-resolution images of small text or fine details.
  • Industrial inspection: This technology can be applied in industries where close-up inspection of small components or intricate details is required, such as electronics manufacturing or quality control.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Manual switching: This technology eliminates the need for users to manually switch between macro and non-macro modes, making it more convenient and efficient.
  • Focus and blur detection: By analyzing focus and blur data, the system can accurately determine the appropriate sensing mode, ensuring optimal image quality for different types of media.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved image quality: By automatically switching between macro and non-macro modes, the system can capture high-quality images with the appropriate focus and level of detail.
  • User-friendly: Users do not need to manually adjust settings or switch modes, making it easier for anyone to capture macro and non-macro media.
  • Time-saving: The real-time switching capability allows for quick and seamless transitions between different sensing modes, saving time and effort for users.

Original Abstract Submitted

The embodiments herein disclose methods and systems for switching between a macro and a non-macro sensing mode for capturing macro and non-macro media in real-time. A method for controlling an electronic device may include acquiring at least one frame; identifying an operation mode of the electronic device among a macro sensing mode and non-macro sensing mode based on at least one of focus data and blur data of the at least one frame; and acquiring at least one image by using an image sensor, from among a plurality of image sensors of the electronic device, corresponding to the operation mode.
