Display Substrate and Driving Method Thereof, and Display Device - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18100427 titled 'Display Substrate and Driving Method Thereof, and Display Device

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display substrate, a driving method, and a display device. The display substrate consists of two display sub-regions: the first display sub-region and the second display sub-region.

  • The first display sub-region includes multiple repeating regions, each containing a first pixel unit and a second pixel unit placed adjacent to each other. The first pixel unit consists of a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel, while the second pixel unit consists of a second sub-pixel and a third sub-pixel.
  • The second display sub-region includes multiple repeating regions, each containing a third pixel unit and a first transparent pixel. The third pixel unit consists of a first sub-pixel, a second sub-pixel, and a third sub-pixel.
  • The first transparent pixel is designed to have a lower pixel density and higher light transmittance compared to the first display sub-region.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This display substrate can be used in various electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, televisions, and computer monitors.
  • It can enhance the visual quality and efficiency of displays by providing different pixel densities and light transmittance levels in different sub-regions.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The display substrate addresses the issue of pixel density and light transmittance uniformity across the entire display area.
  • By incorporating different pixel units and transparent pixels, it allows for improved image quality and better control over light transmission.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The display substrate provides a more visually appealing and efficient display by offering varying pixel densities and light transmittance levels.
  • It allows for better customization and optimization of display performance based on specific requirements.
  • The technology can enhance the user experience by providing sharper images and improved contrast ratios.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display substrate, a driving method thereof, and a display device. The display substrate includes: a first display sub-region including a plurality of first repeating regions each including a first pixel unit and a second pixel unit disposed adjacently, the first pixel unit including a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel, and the second pixel unit including a second sub-pixel and a third sub-pixel; and a second display sub-region including a plurality of second repeating regions each including a third pixel unit and a first transparent pixel, the third pixel unit including a first sub-pixel, a second sub-pixel and a third sub-pixel; the first transparent pixel is configured such that a pixel density of the second display sub-region is less than a pixel density of the first display sub-region, and a light transmittance of the second display sub-region is greater than a light transmittance of the first display sub-region.
