ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING SENSING STRUCTURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18096714 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING SENSING STRUCTURE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device with a sliding mechanism and a bendable support that allows for changes in contact between a conductive member and a sensing member. The device also includes a flexible display.

  • The electronic device has a sliding mechanism that allows the second housing to slide a specified distance.
  • The bendable support can be retracted or expanded to form the same plane.
  • The device includes a flexible display that can bend and adapt to different positions.
  • A sensing member is present to detect changes in contact with a conductive member.
  • The conductive member is bendable and its contact with the sensing member can be changed based on the sliding operation of the second housing.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Mobile phones or tablets with sliding mechanisms for compactness and flexibility.
  • Wearable devices with flexible displays that can adapt to different positions.
  • Electronic devices with touch-sensitive surfaces that can detect changes in contact.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a compact and flexible design for electronic devices.
  • Allows for changes in contact between components based on sliding operations.
  • Enables the use of flexible displays for improved user experience.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Increased portability and convenience due to the sliding mechanism.
  • Enhanced user interaction with touch-sensitive surfaces.
  • Versatile and adaptable design with the use of flexible displays.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed is an electronic device comprising: a first housing; a second housing coupled to the first housing and configured to be slidable a specified reciprocating distance; a bendable support which forms the same plane according to retracted/expanded states; a flexible display; a sensing member; and a conductive member which is bendable such that the contact of the conductive member with the sensing member can be changed according to the sliding operation of the second housing.
