METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TRANSMISSION POWER OF SOUNDING REFERENCE SIGNAL (SRS) BY TERMINAL IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, AND DEVICE THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18096387 titled 'METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TRANSMISSION POWER OF SOUNDING REFERENCE SIGNAL (SRS) BY TERMINAL IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, AND DEVICE THEREFOR

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for controlling the transmission power of a sounding reference signal (SRS) in a wireless communication system. The method involves the following steps:

  • Connecting to a serving cell in the wireless communication system.
  • Receiving a resource for acquiring path loss, which is used to determine the transmission power of the SRS.
  • Determining the measurement for the path loss based on the received resource.
  • Controlling the transmission power of the SRS based on the measurement determination.

Bullet points explaining the patent/innovation:

  • The method allows a terminal in a wireless communication system to control the transmission power of a sounding reference signal (SRS).
  • The SRS transmission power is controlled based on the measurement of path loss, which is acquired from a resource provided by a serving cell.
  • If the measurement for the resource is successful, the measurement value of the path loss is used to control the transmission power.
  • If the measurement for the resource fails, information related to power setting acquired from the serving cell is used to control the transmission power.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, to improve the efficiency and reliability of SRS transmission.
  • It can be used in 5G networks to optimize the transmission power of SRS, leading to better network performance and enhanced user experience.
  • The method can also be implemented in IoT (Internet of Things) devices to control the transmission power of SRS, ensuring efficient and reliable communication in IoT networks.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The method solves the problem of inefficient transmission power control for sounding reference signals in wireless communication systems.
  • It addresses the issue of inaccurate path loss measurement, which can affect the overall performance of the system.
  • By providing a mechanism to control the transmission power based on successful or failed measurement, the method ensures optimal power settings for SRS transmission.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The method improves the overall efficiency and reliability of SRS transmission in wireless communication systems.
  • It allows for accurate measurement of path loss, leading to better network performance and coverage.
  • By optimizing the transmission power of SRS, the method helps in reducing interference and improving the quality of communication in the system.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed is a method for controlling the transmission power of a sounding reference signal (SRS) by a terminal in a wireless communication system. In particular, the method comprises: connecting to a serving cell; receiving an RS resource for acquiring path loss used for the transmission power of an SRS; determining measurement for the path loss on the basis of the RS resource; and controlling the transmission power of the SRS on the basis of the determination on the measurement, wherein the RS resource is related to a neighbor cell, a measurement value of the path loss is used to control the transmission power, on the basis that measurement for the RS resource has succeeded, and information related to a power setting, acquired from the serving cell can be used to control the transmission power, on the basis that the measurement for the RS resource has failed.
