DISPLAY DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18094125 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a display device and a control method for the device. Here are the key points:
- The display device includes a display, a transmitter for infrared (IR) signals, and one or more processors.
- The display can show multiple images from different source devices.
- The source devices use the same IR protocol for communication.
- The processors control the display to show a multi-screen with multiple images based on image signals received from the source devices.
- The processors can selectively control a specific source device based on user commands indicating a specific image.
- The transmitter sends an IR signal to selectively control the specific source device.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Multi-screen displays in public spaces like airports, shopping malls, or stadiums.
- Control of multiple screens in a conference room or classroom.
- Gaming setups with multiple screens and different sources.
Problems solved by this technology:
- Simplifies the control of multiple source devices connected to a display.
- Allows users to easily switch between different images displayed on the screen.
- Provides a standardized IR protocol for communication between the display and source devices.
Benefits of this technology:
- Enhanced user experience with the ability to display multiple images simultaneously.
- Simplified control interface for managing multiple source devices.
- Improved compatibility between different source devices using the same IR protocol.
Original Abstract Submitted
A display device and a control method therefor are disclosed. The display device includes: a display; a transmitter configured to transmit an infrared (IR) signal; and one or more processors configured to: control the display to display a multi-screen including a plurality of images based on a plurality of image signals received from a plurality of source devices, each of the plurality of source devices using a same IR protocol; perform, based on a user command indicating a first image from among the plurality of images, a process for selectively controlling a first source device, from among the plurality of source devices, which provides the first image; and transmit an IR signal for selectively controlling the first source device through the transmitter.
