METHOD FOR SUPPORTING SERVICE CONTINUITY WHEN DISASTER SITUATION ENDS, AND DEVICE SUPPORTING SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18093598 titled 'METHOD FOR SUPPORTING SERVICE CONTINUITY WHEN DISASTER SITUATION ENDS, AND DEVICE SUPPORTING SAME

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method and device for supporting service continuity after a disaster situation ends. Here are the key points:

  • The user equipment (UE) receives a configuration update command message from a disaster roaming PLMN (Public Land Mobile Network), which indicates that the disaster condition of the home PLMN (HPLMN) has ended.
  • The UE waits until the service being received from the disaster roaming PLMN ends.
  • After the service ends, the UE performs a deregistration procedure from the disaster roaming PLMN based on the information that the disaster condition of the HPLMN has ended.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Disaster management and recovery: This technology can be used to ensure seamless transition and continuity of services for users affected by a disaster situation. It allows for efficient management of network resources and facilitates the restoration of normal operations after a disaster.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Service disruption during disaster recovery: When a disaster situation ends, there is a need to smoothly transition users back to their home PLMN and ensure uninterrupted service. This technology addresses this problem by providing a method for deregistration from the disaster roaming PLMN once the disaster condition of the HPLMN has ended.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Service continuity: By waiting for the service to end before deregistering from the disaster roaming PLMN, this technology ensures that users can continue to receive uninterrupted service during the transition period.
  • Efficient resource management: The method described in the patent application allows for efficient management of network resources by deregistering users from the disaster roaming PLMN only when necessary, reducing unnecessary signaling and network congestion.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided are a method for supporting service continuity when a disaster situation ends, and a device supporting same. A user equipment (UE) receives, from a disaster roaming PLMN, a configuration update command message including information indicating that a disaster condition of a home PLMN (HPLMN) has ended. The UE waits until a service that is being received from the disaster roaming PLMN ends, and performs, after the service that is being received from the disaster roaming PLMN ends, a procedure of deregistration from the disaster roaming PLMN on the basis of information indicating that the disaster condition of the HPLMN has ended.
