MANAGING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18091642 titled 'MANAGING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The managing apparatus described in this patent application enables self-driving of a vehicle for parking and leaving a parking lot. The apparatus includes a wait time setting device that allows the user to set a maximum wait time for the vehicle at a predetermined place outside the parking lot. It also includes a controller that sets a driving route for the vehicle to return to the parking lot if the maximum wait time elapses from the vehicle's arrival at the predetermined place. The controller provides self-driving capabilities to the vehicle along the designated driving route.

  • The managing apparatus enables self-driving of a vehicle for parking and leaving a parking lot.
  • It allows the vehicle to enter a parking space from outside the parking lot and leave the parking lot for a predetermined place outside.
  • The wait time setting device allows the user to set a maximum wait time for the vehicle at the predetermined place.
  • The controller sets a driving route for the vehicle to return to the parking lot if the maximum wait time elapses.
  • The controller provides self-driving capabilities to the vehicle along the designated driving route.

Potential Applications

  • Parking management systems in commercial buildings, shopping malls, and public parking lots.
  • Car rental services that offer self-driving capabilities for parking and returning vehicles.

  • Reduces congestion and traffic in parking lots by enabling autonomous parking and retrieval.
  • Allows for better utilization of parking spaces, maximizing the capacity of parking lots.

Original Abstract Submitted

A managing apparatus provides self-driving of a vehicle, which allows the vehicle to enter a parking space out of a plurality of parking spaces from an outside of a parking lot including the plurality of parking spaces, and which allows the vehicle to leave the parking lot for a predetermined place in the outside. The managing apparatus is provided with: a wait time setting device configured to set a maximum wait time of the vehicle in the predetermined place; and a controller configured to set a driving route for returning the vehicle to the parking lot from the predetermined place on condition that the maximum wait time elapses from an arrival of the vehicle in the predetermined place, and configured to provide the self-driving of the vehicle along the driving route.
