DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18079496 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a display device and a method of manufacturing it. The device includes a first electrode on an organic insulating layer and a second electrode on an intermediate layer, overlapping the first electrode and an auxiliary electrode. The second electrode is electrically connected to the auxiliary electrode through a hole in the intermediate layer. The thickness of the intermediate layer varies away from the center of the hole.

  • The display device has a first electrode on an organic insulating layer.
  • A second electrode is on an intermediate layer and overlaps the first electrode and an auxiliary electrode.
  • The second electrode is connected to the auxiliary electrode through a hole in the intermediate layer.
  • The thickness of the intermediate layer changes as you move away from the center of the hole.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices in electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
  • Flexible displays for wearable devices and curved screens.
  • High-resolution displays for virtual reality and augmented reality applications.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a more efficient and reliable electrical connection between the second electrode and the auxiliary electrode.
  • Allows for better control of the thickness of the intermediate layer, improving the overall performance of the display device.
  • Enables the manufacturing of thinner and lighter display devices.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved electrical connectivity and performance of the display device.
  • Enhanced flexibility and durability, making it suitable for various applications.
  • Thinner and lighter display devices, leading to more compact and portable electronic devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure provides a display device and a method of manufacturing the display device. The display device includes a first electrode disposed on an organic insulating layer and a second electrode disposed on an intermediate layer and overlapping the first electrode and an auxiliary electrode in a plan view, the second electrode electrically contacting the auxiliary electrode through a hole of the intermediate layer. A thickness of the intermediate layer varies in a direction away from a center of the hole of the intermediate layer.
