METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CERTIFICATION OF UE ORIENTED BEAM MANAGEMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18064776 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CERTIFICATION OF UE ORIENTED BEAM MANAGEMENT

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for a communication system that supports high data transmission rates in 5G or 6G networks. The patent application presents a method and apparatus for transmitting multicast data to a terminal in a 5G network.

  • The method involves identifying the need for terminal-based beam management based on factors like the communication environment or the terminal's capability.
  • The method includes transmitting a message to the base station, requesting permission for terminal-based beam management.
  • The base station responds with a message indicating whether the terminal-based beam management is allowed.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be applied in 5G or 6G communication systems to support higher data transmission rates.
  • It can be used to efficiently transmit multicast data to terminals in a network.
  • The method can improve the overall performance and reliability of communication systems.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The technology addresses the need for higher data transmission rates in 5G or 6G networks.
  • It solves the challenge of efficiently transmitting multicast data to multiple terminals in a network.
  • The method helps optimize beam management based on the communication environment and terminal capabilities.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The technology enables faster and more reliable data transmission in 5G or 6G networks.
  • It improves the efficiency of multicast data transmission to multiple terminals.
  • The method allows for optimized beam management, leading to better network performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. An embodiment of the disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting multicast data to a terminal in a 5G network. The method comprises: identifying to perform a terminal based beam management based on at least one of a communication environment or a capability of the terminal; transmitting, to a base station, a first message for requesting an allowance of the terminal based beam management; and receiving, from the base station, a second message including information indicating whether the terminal based beam management is allowed.
