METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMISSION TIMING USING TIMING ADVANCE IN FULL-DUPLEX SYSTEMS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18058813 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMISSION TIMING USING TIMING ADVANCE IN FULL-DUPLEX SYSTEMS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method and apparatus for transmission timing in full-duplex communication systems using timing advance. The method involves receiving information for timing advance values associated with subsets of slots on a cell and a condition. Based on the condition, the method determines whether to transmit an uplink signal or channel in a slot from the second subset of slots using either the first timing advance value or the second timing advance value.

  • The method involves receiving information for timing advance values associated with subsets of slots on a cell.
  • The method also involves receiving information for a condition.
  • Based on the condition, the method determines whether to transmit an uplink signal or channel in a slot from the second subset of slots.
  • When the condition is valid, the method uses the first timing advance value for transmission.
  • When the condition is not valid, the method uses the second timing advance value for transmission.

Potential Applications

  • Full-duplex communication systems
  • Wireless communication networks
  • Cellular networks

Problems Solved

  • Efficient transmission timing in full-duplex communication systems
  • Optimizing uplink signal or channel transmission based on timing advance values and conditions

Benefits

  • Improved efficiency in transmission timing
  • Enhanced performance of full-duplex communication systems
  • Better utilization of available slots in a cell

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and apparatuses for transmission timing using timing advance in full-duplex communication systems. A method for transmitting an uplink (UL) signal or channel associated with a transmission timing procedure includes receiving first information for a first timing advance value associated with a first subset of slots from a set of slots on a cell, second information for a second timing advance value associated with a second subset of slots from the set of slots on the cell, and third information for a condition. The method further includes determining whether the condition is valid for transmission in a slot from the second subset of slots and transmitting the UL signal or channel in the slot based on the first timing advance value when the condition is valid and the second timing advance value when the condition is not valid.
