COOLING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE DRIVEN BY IN-WHEEL MOTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18052343 titled 'COOLING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE DRIVEN BY IN-WHEEL MOTOR

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a cooling system for a vehicle with in-wheel motors. The system includes a cooling water channel in the in-wheel motor and inverter, a radiator to dissipate heat, a cooling water circulation line, and a water pump to circulate the cooling water.

  • The cooling system is designed for vehicles with in-wheel motors.
  • It includes cooling water channels in both the in-wheel motor and inverter.
  • A radiator is provided to dissipate heat from the cooling water.
  • A cooling water circulation line connects the channels and radiator.
  • A water pump is used to circulate the cooling water through the system.

Potential Applications

  • Electric vehicles with in-wheel motors.
  • Hybrid vehicles with in-wheel motors.

Problems Solved

  • Overheating of in-wheel motors and inverters.
  • Efficient cooling of the components.
  • Preventing damage and performance degradation due to excessive heat.

Benefits

  • Improved performance and longevity of in-wheel motors and inverters.
  • Enhanced cooling efficiency.
  • Increased overall vehicle efficiency.
  • Reduced risk of component failure due to overheating.

Original Abstract Submitted

A cooling system for a vehicle driven by in-wheel motors includes a cooling water channel provided in an in-wheel motor mounted on a wheel of a vehicle so that cooling water for cooling the in-wheel motor can pass through the cooling water channel, a cooling water channel provided in an inverter for driving and controlling the in-wheel motor so that cooling water for cooling the inverter can pass through the cooling water channel, a radiator provided to dissipate heat of cooling water that has cooled the in-wheel motor and the inverter by passing the cooling water, a cooling water circulation line connected such that cooling water can circulate between the cooling water channel of the in-wheel motor, the cooling water channel of the inverter, and the radiator, and a water pump configured to circulate cooling water through the cooling water circulation line by pumping cooling water in the cooling water circulation line.
