In certain aspects, the apparatus is configured to generate data (e.g., generate uplink data and store the data in a buffer until uplink resources are granted for transmission of the data). In certain aspects, the apparatus is configured to transmit, to a network node, a scheduling request (SR) comprising an indication of a size of the generated data, wherein the indication of the size of the generated data is configured to indicate whether the size of the generated data is greater than or equal to a threshold value, or less than or equal to the threshold value.
