STRUCTURED MINIMIZATION OF DRIVE TEST MEASUREMENT DATA FROM A USER EQUIPMENT TO A NETWORK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17999818 titled 'STRUCTURED MINIMIZATION OF DRIVE TEST MEASUREMENT DATA FROM A USER EQUIPMENT TO A NETWORK

Simplified Explanation

The patent application discloses a method for sending structured measurement data based on a specific type of measurement requested by a network.

  • User equipment (UE) receives a request from a base station for specific measurement data.
  • The UE sends the requested data, including a structure report with results for the specified measurement type, to the base station.
  • Alternatively, the base station can send a request to the UE for specific measurement data.
  • The base station receives the requested data corresponding to the type of measurement.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various industries and scenarios where structured measurement data needs to be sent between user equipment and base stations. Some potential applications include:

  • Telecommunications: Improving network performance and optimization by collecting specific measurement data from user equipment.
  • Transportation: Gathering driving test data for analysis and improvement of transportation systems.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Collecting specific measurement data for analyzing and managing environmental conditions.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses the following problems:

  • Efficient data collection: By requesting and sending only specific measurement data, unnecessary data transmission and processing can be avoided.
  • Streamlined analysis: The structured measurement data allows for easier analysis and interpretation of the collected data.
  • Targeted optimization: The specific measurement data helps in identifying and addressing specific issues or areas for improvement.

Benefits

The use of this technology offers several benefits:

  • Improved network performance: By collecting specific measurement data, network optimization can be targeted and tailored to address specific issues.
  • Reduced data transmission: Only the requested measurement data is sent, reducing unnecessary data transmission and saving network resources.
  • Enhanced analysis capabilities: The structured measurement data allows for more efficient and accurate analysis, leading to better decision-making and problem-solving.

Original Abstract Submitted

Aspects for sending structured measurement data based on a specific type of measurement requested by a network are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) may receive a request from a base station for minimization of driving test (MDT) data corresponding to a specified type of measurement by the UE from a larger plurality of available MDT measurements that the UE can make. The UE can send the requested data including a structure report having results for the specified measurement type to the base station. In other aspects, a base station may send a request to a UE for minimization of driving test (MDT) data corresponding to a type of measurement by the UE. The base station may receive the requested data corresponding to the type of measurement.
