UPLINK CONTROL INFORMATION MULTIPLEXING RULE FOR SIMULTANEOUS UPLINK CONTROL CHANNEL AND UPLINK SHARED CHANNEL TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17997726 titled 'UPLINK CONTROL INFORMATION MULTIPLEXING RULE FOR SIMULTANEOUS UPLINK CONTROL CHANNEL AND UPLINK SHARED CHANNEL TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications. It introduces a mode of transmitting uplink control information (UCI) on an uplink control channel and an uplink signal on an uplink shared channel when the resources of both channels partially overlap.

  • A user equipment (UE) can determine its capability to support this mode of UCI transmission.
  • In the first UCI transmission mode, the UE transmits UCI on an uplink control channel with overlapping resources with the uplink shared channel.
  • In the second UCI transmission mode, the UE multiplexes the UCI in the uplink shared channel.
  • The base station can transmit a configuration to the UE, indicating which UCI transmission mode to use.
  • Based on the configuration, the UE can transmit UCI on the uplink control channel and the uplink signal on the uplink shared channel.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, to improve the efficiency of UCI transmission.
  • It can enhance the performance of uplink control channels and uplink shared channels in wireless networks.

Problems Solved

  • Overlapping resources between uplink control channels and uplink shared channels can cause interference and reduce the efficiency of UCI transmission.
  • This technology solves the problem of efficiently transmitting UCI when the resources of both channels partially overlap.

Benefits

  • By utilizing overlapping resources, this technology allows for more efficient use of available spectrum.
  • It improves the overall performance and capacity of wireless communication systems.
  • The ability to transmit UCI on both channels provides flexibility and adaptability to different network conditions.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine a capability to support a mode of uplink control information (UCI) transmission corresponding to transmitting the UCI on an uplink control channel and an uplink signal on an uplink shared channel when the resources of the uplink control channel and the resources of the uplink shared channel are at least partially overlapping. In a first UCI transmission mode, the UE may transmit UCI on an uplink control channel with resources that overlap with an uplink shared channel. In another UCI transmission mode, the UE may multiplex the UCI in the uplink shared channel. The base station may transmit a configuration indicating to the UE to use a UCI transmission mode. The UE may transmit UCI on the uplink control channel and uplink signal on the uplink shared channel based on the configuration.
