IMPROVED TRANSMISSION CONFIGURATION INDICATOR STATE FOR CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION REPORT IN FULL-DUPLEX SYSTEMS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17996993 titled 'IMPROVED TRANSMISSION CONFIGURATION INDICATOR STATE FOR CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION REPORT IN FULL-DUPLEX SYSTEMS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an improved method for reporting channel state information (CSI) in full-duplex systems. The method involves using a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state and a quasi-colocation (QCL) type indicator to determine the spatial relationship between downlink and uplink reference signals.

  • The TCI state includes information about the downlink and uplink reference signal resources.
  • The QCL type indicator indicates the spatial relationship between the downlink and uplink reference signals.
  • The user equipment (UE) uses this information to determine a receive beam for the downlink reference signal.
  • The UE generates and transmits a CSI report based on the received downlink reference signal and an interference measurement of the uplink reference signal resource.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Full-duplex communication systems
  • Wireless communication networks

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient reporting of channel state information in full-duplex systems
  • Minimizing interference between downlink and uplink reference signals

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved performance and reliability of full-duplex systems
  • Enhanced capacity and throughput in wireless communication networks

Original Abstract Submitted

An improved transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state for channel state information (CSI) reporting is disclosed for full-duplex systems. In such systems, a potentially victim user equipment (UE) may receive a CSI report configuration message including at least a TCI state and a quasi-colocation (QCL) type indicator. The TCI state includes identification of at least a downlink reference signal resource and an uplink reference signal resource, while the QCL type indicator indicates a spatial relationship between the downlink and uplink reference signals. The UE may then determine a receive beam for receipt of a downlink reference signal, wherein the receive beam is determined based on the QCL type indicator. The UE generates and transmits a CSI report based on the receipt of the downlink reference signal using the determined receive beam and an interference measurement of the uplink reference signal resource.
