GNB-CONTROLLED RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) SENSING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17996242 titled 'GNB-CONTROLLED RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) SENSING

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for techniques related to radio frequency (RF) sensing. The method involves a user equipment (UE) receiving a configuration from a base station (BS) to perform RF sensing. The UE then transmits an RF sensing signal based on the configuration and measures the reflections of the signal.

  • The patent application focuses on techniques for RF sensing in wireless communication.
  • The method involves the UE receiving a configuration from the BS to perform RF sensing.
  • The UE then transmits an RF sensing signal based on the configuration.
  • The method also includes measuring the reflections of the RF sensing signal.
  • The BS receives an RF sensing capabilities message from the UE.
  • The BS then transmits a configuration to the UE for RF sensing based on the capabilities message.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems.
  • It can be used to enhance the performance and efficiency of RF sensing in user equipment.
  • The techniques described in the patent application can be implemented in various wireless communication devices.

Problems Solved

  • The patent application addresses the need for efficient RF sensing in wireless communication.
  • It solves the problem of configuring user equipment for RF sensing.
  • The techniques described in the patent application help in accurately measuring reflections of RF sensing signals.

Benefits

  • The technology improves the accuracy and reliability of RF sensing.
  • It allows for better configuration of user equipment for RF sensing.
  • The techniques described in the patent application enhance the overall performance of wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for radio frequency (RF) sensing. A method that may be performed by a UE generally includes receiving, from a base station (BS), a configuration for the UE to perform RF sensing. The method generally includes transmitting an RF sensing signal based on the configuration. The method generally includes performing one or more measurements of one or more reflections of the RF sensing signal. Certain aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure canbe implemented in a method for wireless communication by a BS. The method generally includes receiving a RF sensing capabilities message from a UE. The method generally includes transmitting, to the UE, a configuration for the UE to perform RF sensing based on the RF sensing capabilities message.
