ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING ACOUSTIC ACTUATOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17994971 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING ACOUSTIC ACTUATOR

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an electronic device with a display, a bracket, and an acoustic actuator. The acoustic actuator is positioned under the display and includes a vibrating portion that transfers waves to the display. The bracket supports the display and fixes a part of the acoustic actuator. The device also includes a recess structure that is spaced from the acoustic actuator and has a different acoustic impedance than the adjacent bracket.

  • The electronic device has a display, bracket, and acoustic actuator.
  • The acoustic actuator is positioned under the display and transfers waves to it.
  • The bracket supports the display and fixes a part of the acoustic actuator.
  • The device includes a recess structure that is spaced from the acoustic actuator.
  • The recess structure has a different acoustic impedance than the adjacent bracket.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be used in smartphones, tablets, or other electronic devices with displays.
  • It can enhance the audio experience by providing better sound quality and clarity.
  • The improved acoustic performance can be beneficial for multimedia applications, gaming, or video playback.

Problems Solved

  • The technology addresses the issue of limited audio quality in electronic devices with small form factors.
  • It solves the problem of sound distortion or muffled audio caused by the proximity of the acoustic actuator to the bracket.
  • By introducing a recess structure with different acoustic impedance, it helps to optimize sound transmission and reduce interference.

Benefits

  • The electronic device with this technology can deliver improved audio performance.
  • Users can enjoy clearer and more immersive sound while using their devices.
  • The technology allows for better integration of audio components without compromising the device's design or form factor.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device includes a display, a bracket for supporting at least a part of the display, and an acoustic actuator. The acoustic actuator is arranged under the display and includes a vibrating portion for transferring waves to the display and a fixed portion of which at least a part is fixed by the bracket. and the electronic device further includes at least one recess structure of which at least a part is arranged to be spaced from the acoustic actuator. The recess structure is formed to have an acoustic impedance that differs from the acoustic impedance of the bracket which is adjacent to the recess structure.
