PRINTING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD THEREOF, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17989740 titled 'PRINTING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD THEREOF, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a printing apparatus that connects to an external device using a communication protocol. It receives print data from the external device and temporarily stores it in a spool area. The printing process is then performed based on the stored print data.

  • The printing apparatus can establish a connection with an external device and receive print data transmitted through the connection.
  • The received print data is temporarily stored in a spool area.
  • The printing process is performed based on the print data stored in the spool area.
  • The printing apparatus can control whether to disconnect the connection with the external device based on a user setting.
  • If the reception of print data is stopped halfway and a certain amount of time has passed, the printing apparatus can disconnect the connection.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be used in various printing devices such as printers, copiers, and multifunction devices.
  • It can be applied in office environments, homes, and commercial printing services.

Problems Solved

  • The technology solves the problem of interrupted print data reception from an external device.
  • It addresses the issue of print data being lost or not properly processed when the reception is stopped halfway.

Benefits

  • Users have control over whether to disconnect the connection in case of interrupted print data reception.
  • The printing apparatus ensures that print data is stored and processed even if the reception is stopped temporarily.
  • It improves the reliability and efficiency of the printing process.

Original Abstract Submitted

A printing apparatus establishes a connection with an external apparatus in accordance with a predetermined communication protocol, receives, and temporarily stores in a spool area, print data transmitted from the external apparatus via the connection, and performs a printing process based on print data stored in the spool area. The printing apparatus controls whether or not to disconnect the connection with the external apparatus from the printing apparatus side, in accordance with a setting preliminarily made by a user operation, in a case where reception of print data from the external apparatus is stopped halfway through and a predetermined time has elapsed in a state where the reception remains stopped.
