SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING CHANNEL RECOVERY FOR ANGLE DOMAIN SPARSE CHANNELS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17989332 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING CHANNEL RECOVERY FOR ANGLE DOMAIN SPARSE CHANNELS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a system and method for recovering analog and partial channels based on digital channel information, beamforming codebook, and quantized angle of arrival (AoA) values. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The system receives an input that includes digital channel information, beamforming codebook, and quantized AoA values.
  • It selects a basis from the quantized AoA values based on the largest projection power of the measurement output.
  • It recovers a partial channel using the beamforming codebook and the estimated digital channel.
  • It recovers an analog channel using the partial channel and the selected basis.

Potential Applications:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Beamforming technology
  • Channel estimation and recovery

Problems Solved:

  • Efficient recovery of analog and partial channels from digital channel information
  • Accurate estimation of angle of arrival values

Benefits:

  • Improved wireless communication performance
  • Enhanced beamforming capabilities
  • More accurate channel estimation and recovery

Original Abstract Submitted

A system and method are provided in which an input including a measurement output of digital channel information is received. The digital channel information includes an estimated digital channel, a beamforming codebook, and quantized angle of arrival (AoA) values. A basis corresponding to one of the quantized AoA values is selected according to a largest projection power of the measurement output. A partial channel is recovered based on the beamforming codebook and the estimated digital channel. An analog channel is recovered based on the partial channel and the basis.
