PRE-CONDITIONING SYSTEM FOR BATTERY OF VEHICLE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17984522 titled 'PRE-CONDITIONING SYSTEM FOR BATTERY OF VEHICLE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for pre-conditioning the battery of a vehicle. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The system receives the destination input for the vehicle.
  • It generates and outputs a route to the destination.
  • It searches for battery charging stations within a predetermined range along the route.
  • The system determines if each charging station meets a specific environmental condition.
  • If a charging station satisfies the condition, it adds the charging station path to the destination route.
  • The system also checks if the vehicle's battery meets a preset state condition.
  • If the condition is met, the battery is warmed at a specific time point.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Electric vehicles: This method can be used in electric vehicles to optimize battery charging and pre-conditioning, ensuring efficient and reliable performance during the journey.
  • Fleet management: Fleet operators can utilize this system to plan routes and pre-condition batteries for multiple vehicles, improving overall efficiency and reducing downtime.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Range anxiety: By identifying and adding charging stations along the route, this system helps alleviate concerns about running out of battery power during a journey.
  • Battery performance: Pre-conditioning the battery ensures it is at an optimal temperature for efficient operation, enhancing overall battery performance and longevity.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced convenience: The system provides a route with charging stations, making it easier for vehicle owners to plan their journeys and ensure they have access to charging infrastructure.
  • Improved battery life: By pre-conditioning the battery, it can operate at its optimal temperature, reducing wear and tear and extending its lifespan.
  • Efficient charging: The system selects charging stations that meet preset environmental conditions, ensuring the battery is charged in a suitable and efficient environment.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of the pre-conditioning system for a battery of a vehicle includes: receiving an input of a destination of the vehicle; generating and outputting a destination route to the destination; searching for information on one or more battery charging stations located within a predetermined range on or around the destination route; determining whether each of the searched battery charging stations satisfies a preset environmental condition; adding a charging station path to a charging station selected among charging stations provided with the environmental condition to the destination route; determining whether the battery of the vehicle satisfies a preset state condition; and warming the battery at a preset time point when the preset state condition is satisfied.
