METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING EDGE APPLICATION SERVER IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM SUPPORTING EDGE COMPUTING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17982987 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SUPPORTING EDGE APPLICATION SERVER IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM SUPPORTING EDGE COMPUTING

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method and device for efficiently supporting an EAS (Edge Application Server) in a wireless communication system that supports edge computing. The system is designed to provide a higher data transmission rate, specifically in a 5G or 6G communication system.

  • The method involves an EES (Edge Execution System) receiving a registration request message from an EAS that includes network slice information related to the EAS.
  • The EES then selects a UE (User Equipment) to which EAS information about the EAS should be provided, along with a method for providing the EAS information.
  • Finally, the EES provides the EAS information to the selected UE based on the chosen method.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be applied in 5G or 6G communication systems that support edge computing.
  • It can enhance the efficiency of supporting EAS in wireless communication systems.
  • The method and device described can improve the data transmission rate in these systems.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The technology addresses the need for efficient support of EAS in wireless communication systems.
  • It solves the problem of providing EAS information to UEs in an optimized manner.
  • The method and device described can help overcome limitations in data transmission rates in 5G or 6G communication systems.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The technology enables higher data transmission rates in wireless communication systems.
  • It improves the efficiency of supporting EAS in these systems.
  • The method and device described can enhance the overall performance of 5G or 6G communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate, and relates to a method and device for efficiently supporting an EAS in a wireless communication system supporting edge computing. A method performed by an EES is provided, which includes receiving, from an EAS not configured in the EES, a registration request message including network slice information related to the EAS, selecting a UE to which EAS information about the EAS is to be provided and a method for providing the EAS information, and providing the EAS information to the UE based on the selected method.
