DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17982363 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device with a display panel and an input sensor. The display device has different color light emitting areas arranged in a specific pattern.

  • The display device has multiple color light emitting areas arranged in a specific pattern.
  • The first-first color light emitting area is separated from the first-second color light emitting area in a first direction.
  • The second-second color light emitting area is separated from the first-third color light emitting area in the first direction.
  • There are line areas between the color light emitting areas.
  • The distance between the line area and the first-second color light emitting area is greater than the distance between the line area and the first-first color light emitting area.
  • The distance between the line area and the second-second color light emitting area is greater than the distance between the line area and the first-third color light emitting area.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices for electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, or televisions.
  • Augmented reality or virtual reality headsets.
  • Automotive displays or instrument clusters.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a more efficient arrangement of color light emitting areas on a display panel.
  • Helps improve the overall image quality and color accuracy of the display.
  • Reduces the potential for color bleeding or cross-talk between adjacent color light emitting areas.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced visual experience with improved color reproduction.
  • More accurate and vibrant colors on the display.
  • Reduced image artifacts and improved image clarity.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a display panel and an input sensor. A first-first color light emitting area is spaced apart from a first-second color light emitting area in a first direction, and a second-second color light emitting area is spaced apart from a first-third color light emitting area in the first direction. A first line area is between the first-first and the first-second color light emitting areas, and a second line area between the second-second and the first-third color light emitting areas. A distance between the first line area and the first-second color light emitting area is greater than a distance between the first line area and the first-first color light emitting area, and a distance between the second line area and the second-second color light emitting area is greater than a distance between the second line area and the first-third color light emitting area.
