NOTIFICATION CONTROL APPARATUS, VEHICLE, NOTIFICATION CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17980102 titled 'NOTIFICATION CONTROL APPARATUS, VEHICLE, NOTIFICATION CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM

Simplified Explanation

The disclosed patent application is for a notification control apparatus for a vehicle that controls a notification apparatus to give a notice to the driver. The vehicle has a driving assistance apparatus that includes a first recognition section for recognizing a traffic light ahead of the vehicle from map data, a second recognition section for recognizing the traffic light ahead of the vehicle and its indication state, and a deceleration control section that executes deceleration control using the recognized traffic light as a deceleration causing object.

  • The patent application proposes a notification control apparatus for a vehicle.
  • The apparatus controls a notification apparatus to give a notice to the driver.
  • The vehicle has a driving assistance apparatus that includes a first recognition section for recognizing a traffic light ahead of the vehicle from map data.
  • The vehicle also has a second recognition section for recognizing the traffic light ahead of the vehicle and its indication state.
  • The deceleration control section of the driving assistance apparatus executes deceleration control using the recognized traffic light as a deceleration causing object.
  • The notification control apparatus includes a control section that controls the notification apparatus to notify the driver of the deceleration causing object in different manners depending on whether the traffic light recognized by the first recognition section or the second recognition section is used as the deceleration causing object.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in vehicles with driving assistance systems to improve driver awareness and safety.
  • It can be used in autonomous vehicles to provide notifications to the driver about upcoming traffic lights and their indication states.

Problems Solved

  • The technology solves the problem of driver distraction by providing timely and relevant notifications about traffic lights.
  • It addresses the issue of driver confusion by differentiating between traffic lights recognized from map data and those recognized in real-time.

Benefits

  • The notification control apparatus improves driver safety by providing notifications about traffic lights and their indication states.
  • It enhances driver awareness and reduces the risk of accidents caused by missed or misunderstood traffic signals.
  • The control section's ability to notify the driver in different manners depending on the source of the recognized traffic light allows for more effective communication and response.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed is a notification control apparatus for a vehicle which controls a notification apparatus which gives a notice to a driver. The vehicle has a driving assistance apparatus which includes a first recognition section for recognizing a traffic light present ahead of the vehicle from map data, a second recognition section for recognizing the traffic light present ahead of the vehicle and its indication state, and a deceleration control section which executes deceleration control by using, as a deceleration causing object, a traffic light recognized by the first recognition section and/or the second recognition section. The notification control apparatus includes a control section for controlling the notification apparatus to notify the driver of the deceleration causing object in different manners depending on whether the traffic light recognized by the first recognition section or the traffic light recognized by the second recognition section is used as the deceleration causing object.
