APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVELY APPLYING INTERFERENCE MITIGATION ALGORITHM IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17972024 titled 'APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVELY APPLYING INTERFERENCE MITIGATION ALGORITHM IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a base station in a wireless communication system that can handle interference from user terminals. Here are the key points:

  • The base station has a communication module to interact with a user terminal and a cooperative base station.
  • It operates in two frequency bands: one for communication with the user terminal and another for communication with the cooperative base station.
  • The base station can receive uplink and downlink information from the user terminal and the cooperative base station in both frequency bands.
  • It uses this information to determine if the user terminal is susceptible to interference.
  • If interference is possible, the base station decides whether to apply an interference avoidance algorithm to the user terminal based on the received information.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems: This innovation can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks, Wi-Fi networks, or satellite communication systems.
  • Interference management: The technology helps in managing interference between user terminals and base stations, improving overall system performance and user experience.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Interference mitigation: By analyzing the uplink and downlink information, the base station can identify terminals that may cause interference and take appropriate measures to avoid or minimize it.
  • Enhanced system performance: By applying interference avoidance algorithms, the base station can optimize the communication quality and capacity of the wireless system.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved user experience: By reducing interference, the technology can enhance the reliability and speed of wireless communication, leading to better user experiences.
  • Efficient resource allocation: The base station can allocate network resources more efficiently by identifying and managing interference, resulting in improved overall system performance.
  • Enhanced network capacity: By effectively handling interference, the technology can increase the capacity of the wireless communication system, allowing more user terminals to be served simultaneously.

Original Abstract Submitted

An example base station in a wireless communication system includes a communication module for communicating with a user terminal and a cooperative base station, the base station communicating with the user terminal in a first frequency band, and the cooperative base station communicating with the user terminal in a second frequency band, a memory for storing computer-executable instructions, and a processor configured to execute the computer-executable instructions by accessing the memory, wherein when the instructions are executed by the processor, the processor is configured to control the base station to receive uplink information and downlink information in the first frequency band and the second frequency band for the user terminal from the user terminal and the cooperative base station, determine whether the user terminal is a terminal in which interference may occur, based on a combination of the first frequency band and the second frequency band, and if the user terminal is a terminal in which interference may occur, determine whether to apply an interference avoidance algorithm to the user terminal based on the uplink information and the downlink information.
