AUTOMATICALLY DETERMINING WORK ENVIRONMENT-RELATED ERGONOMIC DATA - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17969434 titled 'AUTOMATICALLY DETERMINING WORK ENVIRONMENT-RELATED ERGONOMIC DATA

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, apparatus, and storage media for automatically determining work environment-related ergonomic data.

  • Obtaining ergonomic-related data for an individual and their work environment
  • Processing the data to determine ergonomic parameter values using models
  • Generating and outputting notifications to the individual based on the parameter values
  • Performing automated actions based on the values and notifications

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various industries where ergonomics play a crucial role, such as office environments, manufacturing facilities, and healthcare settings.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in identifying ergonomic issues in work environments, allowing for proactive measures to be taken to prevent injuries and improve overall well-being.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved employee health and productivity, reduced risk of workplace injuries, and enhanced overall work environment quality.

Potential Commercial Applications

A potential commercial application of this technology could be in the development of ergonomic assessment tools for companies looking to optimize their work environments for employee health and safety.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be existing ergonomic assessment tools and software used in occupational health and safety programs.

What are the potential privacy concerns related to collecting and analyzing personal ergonomic data in the workplace?

Privacy concerns may arise regarding the collection and analysis of personal ergonomic data in the workplace, as employees may feel uncomfortable with their data being monitored and used for evaluation without their consent. Additionally, there may be concerns about the security of the data and how it is stored and shared.

How can companies ensure that the implementation of this technology is done in a way that respects employee privacy and maintains trust in the workplace?

Companies can ensure that the implementation of this technology respects employee privacy and maintains trust in the workplace by being transparent about the data collection process, obtaining informed consent from employees, implementing strong data security measures, and providing clear guidelines on how the data will be used and shared. Additionally, companies can offer employees the option to opt-out of data collection if they have concerns about privacy.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, apparatus, and processor-readable storage media for automatically determining work environment-related ergonomic data are provided herein. An example computer-implemented method includes obtaining ergonomic-related data pertaining to one or more of an individual within a work environment and the work environment; determining one or more ergonomic parameter values by processing at least a portion of the obtained ergonomic-related data using one or more models; generating and outputting, to the individual via one or more automated systems, at least one notification based at least in part on the one or more ergonomic parameter values; and performing one or more automated actions based at least in part on one or more of the one or more ergonomic values and the at least one notification.
