IMAGE CAPTURING APPARATUS CAPABLE OF SUPPRESSING DETECTION OF SUBJECT NOT INTENDED BY USER, CONTROL METHOD FOR IMAGE CAPTURING APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17967056 titled 'IMAGE CAPTURING APPARATUS CAPABLE OF SUPPRESSING DETECTION OF SUBJECT NOT INTENDED BY USER, CONTROL METHOD FOR IMAGE CAPTURING APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an image capturing apparatus that can prevent unintended reading of a two-dimensional code within a photographing view angle without requiring user intervention.

  • The apparatus includes an obtaining unit to capture an image.
  • A first detecting unit identifies a specific subject within the image.
  • A second detecting unit identifies an identifier (such as a two-dimensional code) within the image.
  • A reading unit extracts predetermined information from the identifier.
  • A processing unit performs a specific action based on the extracted information.
  • The processing unit selectively executes the action based on the distance of the specific subject and the identifier from the center of the photographing view angle.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Preventing accidental scanning of unwanted two-dimensional codes in photographs.
  • Enhancing user experience by automatically filtering out irrelevant codes.
  • Improving efficiency in scanning and processing relevant codes.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Eliminates the need for users to manually identify and ignore unwanted codes.
  • Reduces the risk of misinterpretation or misreading of unintended codes.
  • Saves time and effort by automating the filtering process.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Simplifies the process of capturing and processing two-dimensional codes in images.
  • Reduces the chances of errors or confusion caused by unintended code scanning.
  • Enhances user convenience by minimizing the need for manual intervention.

Original Abstract Submitted

An image capturing apparatus capable of suppressing reading of a two-dimensional code not intended by a user when the two-dimensional code is present within a photographing view angle without taking time and labor for the user to operate is provided. The image capturing apparatus includes an obtaining unit configured to obtain an image, a first detecting unit configured to detect a specific subject from the image, a second detecting unit configured to detect an identifier from the image, a reading unit configured to read predetermined information from the identifier, and a processing unit configured to execute a processing based on the predetermined information. The processing unit is configured to selectively execute the processing based on a distance from the center of a photographing view angle of the obtained image to a region that the specific subject is detected and a distance from the center of the photographing view angle of the obtained image to a region that the identifier is detected.
