DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17966873 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display apparatus that includes a substrate with a flat area and a curved area. It also includes pixel electrodes, emission layers, and functional layers.

  • The display apparatus has a substrate with a flat area and a curved area.
  • There is a first pixel electrode in the curved area and a second pixel electrode in the flat area.
  • The first and second pixel electrodes have different thicknesses of functional layers.
  • The first pixel electrode has a thicker functional layer than the second pixel electrode.
  • The display apparatus can be used in various electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • Televisions

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a display apparatus with a curved area and a flat area.
  • Allows for different thicknesses of functional layers in different areas of the display.
  • Provides improved display quality and performance.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced visual experience with a curved display.
  • Improved display quality with different thicknesses of functional layers.
  • Versatile application in various electronic devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus includes: a substrate including a substantially flat area and a curved area extending from the substantially flat area; a first pixel electrode arranged in the curved area; a first emission layer disposed on the first pixel electrode; a second pixel electrode arranged in the substantially flat area; a second emission layer disposed on the second pixel electrode; a first functional layer having a first thickness disposed between the first pixel electrode and the first emission layer; and a second functional layer having a second thickness disposed between the second pixel electrode and the second emission layer. The first thickness is greater than the second thickness.
