METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PERFORMING CELL RESELECTION PROCEDURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17966491 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PERFORMING CELL RESELECTION PROCEDURE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method used in a 5G or 6G communication system to support higher data transmission rates. The method involves a terminal in a wireless communication system performing various steps to enable efficient cell reselection based on priority information for a specific slice.

  • The terminal receives a radio resource control (RRC) release message containing information about the priority for cell reselection for a specific slice.
  • The terminal stores this priority information for future reference.
  • If a timer value is included in the RRC release message, the terminal starts a timer for cell reselection.
  • The terminal performs cell reselection based on the stored priority information if the timer does not expire.

Potential Applications:

  • This method can be applied in 5G or 6G communication systems to enhance data transmission rates.
  • It can be used in various wireless communication devices such as smartphones, tablets, IoT devices, etc.

Problems Solved:

  • The method addresses the need for efficient cell reselection in a wireless communication system.
  • It ensures that cell reselection is based on priority information for a specific slice, improving overall system performance.

Benefits:

  • By considering cell reselection priority for a specific slice, the method optimizes resource allocation and improves network efficiency.
  • It enables faster and more reliable data transmission rates in 5G or 6G communication systems.
  • The method enhances the overall user experience by ensuring seamless connectivity and reduced latency.

Original Abstract Submitted

The method relates to a fifth generation (5G) or sixth generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving a radio resource control (RRC) release message including first information on cell reselection priority for slice, storing the first information on cell reselection priority for slice, starting a timer for cell reselection, in case that time value for the timer is included in the RRC release message, and performing cell reselection based on the first information on cell reselection priority for slice, in case that the timer does not expire.
