METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING LUMINANCE OF AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) IMAGE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17963669 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING LUMINANCE OF AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) IMAGE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device that can receive luminance information from external devices and use it to determine the luminance value of an augmented reality (AR) image associated with those devices.

  • The electronic device includes a memory, a processor, and a communicator.
  • The memory stores computer-executable instructions.
  • The processor executes the instructions by accessing the memory.
  • The communicator receives luminance information from one or more external devices.
  • The luminance information includes a maximum luminance and a luminance setting value.
  • The processor determines the luminance value of the external device based on the received information.
  • The processor also determines the luminance value of an AR image associated with the external device based on the determined luminance value.

Potential Applications

  • Augmented reality devices and applications
  • Display calibration and optimization
  • Gaming and entertainment systems

Problems Solved

  • Inaccurate or inconsistent luminance settings in AR devices
  • Difficulty in matching the luminance of AR images with the external device's luminance

Benefits

  • Improved visual experience in augmented reality
  • Consistent and accurate luminance settings for AR images
  • Enhanced calibration and optimization of display settings

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device includes a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions, a processor configured to execute the computer-executable instructions by accessing the memory, and a communicator configured to receive luminance information comprising a maximum luminance and a luminance setting value from at least one target device among one or more external devices identified by the electronic device. The processor is configured to determine a luminance value of the at least one target device, based on the luminance information received from the at least one target device. The processor is further configured to determine a luminance value of an AR image associated with the at least one target device, based on the luminance value of the at least one target device.
