IMAGE CAPTURING CONTROL APPARATUS, IMAGE CAPTURING CONTROL METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17962995 titled 'IMAGE CAPTURING CONTROL APPARATUS, IMAGE CAPTURING CONTROL METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an image capturing control apparatus that allows for the arrangement of multiple image capturing units to be set and controlled.

  • The setting unit of the apparatus can determine the relative arrangement of the image capturing units by selecting from a variety of predefined settings.
  • The setting unit can also rotate the image capturing units while maintaining the relative arrangement decided in the first setting operation.
  • The control unit of the apparatus is responsible for controlling the arrangement of the image capturing units based on the selected setting.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in various fields where multiple image capturing units are used, such as:

  • Surveillance systems: The apparatus can be used to control the arrangement of cameras in a surveillance system, allowing for optimal coverage of an area.
  • Virtual reality (VR): The apparatus can be used to control the arrangement of cameras in a VR setup, ensuring accurate and immersive capture of the user's surroundings.
  • 3D scanning: The apparatus can be used to control the arrangement of cameras in a 3D scanning system, enabling precise capture of objects from different angles.

Problems Solved

The image capturing control apparatus solves the following problems:

  • Manual arrangement: The apparatus eliminates the need for manual adjustment of the image capturing units, saving time and effort.
  • Inconsistent arrangement: The apparatus ensures a consistent and predefined arrangement of the image capturing units, resulting in more reliable and accurate capture.
  • Limited flexibility: The apparatus allows for easy adjustment and rotation of the image capturing units, providing flexibility in capturing different perspectives.

Benefits

The image capturing control apparatus offers the following benefits:

  • Efficient setup: The apparatus simplifies the process of setting up multiple image capturing units, reducing the time and resources required.
  • Enhanced accuracy: The predefined and consistent arrangement of the image capturing units improves the accuracy and reliability of the captured images.
  • Versatile control: The apparatus allows for flexible control over the arrangement of the image capturing units, enabling customization based on specific requirements.

Original Abstract Submitted

There is provided with an image capturing control apparatus. A setting unit is configured to set an arrangement of a plurality of image capturing units. The setting unit performs a first setting operation of deciding a relative arrangement of the plurality of image capturing units in accordance with a setting selected from a plurality of settings respectively defining the relative arrangement between the plurality of image capturing units and a second setting operation of deciding the arrangement of the plurality of image capturing units by rotating the plurality of image capturing units while maintaining the relative arrangement between the plurality of image capturing units decided by the first setting operation. A control unit is configured to control the arrangement of the plurality of image capturing units in accordance with a setting.
