APPARATUS AND METHOD OF ISSUING CENTRALIZED NON-FUNGIBLE TOKEN BY USING INTERPLANETARY FILE SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17962150 titled 'APPARATUS AND METHOD OF ISSUING CENTRALIZED NON-FUNGIBLE TOKEN BY USING INTERPLANETARY FILE SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for managing a non-fungible token (NFT) for content. Here are the key points:

  • The method is performed by a server and involves managing NFTs for target content.
  • When a request is received from a user to issue an NFT for their content, basic metadata is generated for the content.
  • The generated basic metadata is uploaded to a target folder in an interplanetary file system (IPFS).
  • First ownership metadata, including a content identifier (CID) of the uploaded basic metadata, is generated.
  • The first CID of the target folder with the first ownership metadata is obtained.
  • The obtained first CID is linked to an NFT uniform resource identifier (URI) of the target content.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Digital art and collectibles: This method can be used to manage NFTs for digital artwork, allowing artists to establish ownership and provenance of their creations.
  • Intellectual property protection: Content creators can use this method to create NFTs for their original works, providing a way to prove ownership and protect against unauthorized use or infringement.
  • Digital media distribution: NFTs can be used to manage ownership and distribution rights for digital media such as music, videos, and ebooks.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Establishing ownership: The method provides a way to create and manage NFTs, which can be used to establish ownership and provenance of digital content.
  • Ensuring authenticity: By linking the NFT to the content's metadata, this method helps ensure the authenticity and integrity of the content.
  • Simplifying management: The use of IPFS and linking the NFT to the content's URI simplifies the management and tracking of ownership for the content.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Proof of ownership: Content creators can use NFTs to prove ownership of their digital content, which can be valuable in cases of copyright disputes or licensing agreements.
  • Increased trust and transparency: The use of NFTs and metadata helps establish trust and transparency in the ownership and history of digital content.
  • Simplified management: The method provides a streamlined process for creating, uploading, and linking NFTs to digital content, making it easier for content creators to manage their intellectual property.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method, performed by a server, of managing a non-fungible token (NFT) for content, is provided. The method includes, in response to receiving a request to issue an NFT for target content from a first electronic device of a first user who has generated the target content, generating basic metadata on the target content, uploading the generated basic metadata to a target folder generated in an interplanetary file system (IPFS), generating first ownership metadata including a content identifier (CID) of the uploaded basic metadata, obtaining a first CID of the target folder with the first ownership metadata uploaded to the target folder, and linking the obtained first CID of the target folder to an NFT uniform resource identifier (URI) of the target content.
