POWER SAVING OF NETWORK-CONTROLLED REPEATERS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17956785 titled 'POWER SAVING OF NETWORK-CONTROLLED REPEATERS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications, including a network controlled repeater transmitting a capability indication of a wireless device to a network entity. The capability indication may include latency information related to processing communications, and the network entity may provide an indication of multiple monitoring occasions during a discontinuous reception mode of the wireless device, along with a set of parameters for these occasions. The wireless device then periodically monitors for communications based on the parameters associated with the multiple monitoring occasions.

  • Network controlled repeater transmitting capability indication of wireless device
  • Capability indication includes latency information
  • Network entity provides indication of multiple monitoring occasions during discontinuous reception mode
  • Set of parameters associated with multiple monitoring occasions
  • Wireless device periodically monitors for communications based on parameters

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A network controlled repeater may transmit a capability indication of the wireless device to a network entity. The capability indication of the wireless device may indicate a latency associated with processing communications. The network entity may transmit an indication of multiple monitoring occasions during a discontinuous reception mode of the wireless device, and a set of parameters associated with the multiple monitoring occasions. Each monitoring occasion of the multiple monitoring occasions may be associated with at least one of a different periodicity, length, or offset. The wireless device may periodically monitor for the communications in accordance with the multiple monitoring occasions.
