DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17955794 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device that includes a display panel, an input sensor, and a sensing controller. The input sensor has scanning electrodes and sensing electrodes, and the sensing controller controls the driving of the input sensor.

  • The input sensor has scanning electrodes and sensing electrodes.
  • The sensing controller controls the driving of the input sensor.
  • During a group scanning period, the sensing controller simultaneously transmits input scanning signals to at least two scanning electrodes.
  • The group scanning period consists of multiple scanning periods.
  • During at least one scanning period, the sensing controller transmits a compensating signal with a different phase to at least one sensing electrode.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Touchscreen displays
  • Interactive whiteboards
  • Gaming consoles
  • Virtual reality devices

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Improved accuracy and responsiveness of touch input
  • Reduction of false touches or ghost touches
  • Enhanced performance in noisy environments

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a display panel that displays an image, an input sensor that senses an external input, and a sensing controller that controls the driving of the input sensor. The input sensor includes a plurality of scanning electrodes and a plurality of sensing electrodes. The sensing controller simultaneously transmits input scanning signals to at least two scanning electrodes of the plurality of scanning electrodes during a group scanning period. The group scanning period includes a plurality of scanning periods. The sensing controller transmits a compensating signal having a phase different from a phase of at least one of the input scanning signals to at least one sensing electrode of the plurality of sensing electrodes during at least one scanning period of the plurality of scanning periods.
