MULTICAST SCHEDULING IN A FULL DUPLEX NETWORK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17949001 titled 'MULTICAST SCHEDULING IN A FULL DUPLEX NETWORK

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications, specifically focusing on the transmission of multicast messages via a common frequency resource (CFR) in a full duplex slot. Here are some key points to explain the innovation:

  • Transmission of multicast messages via a common frequency resource (CFR) in a full duplex slot
  • CFR positioned within the downlink bandwidth parts (BWP) configured for a group of user equipments (UEs)
  • Each UE in the group can monitor for and receive the multicast message
  • Network indicates the frequency position of the CFR to the group of UEs
  • Different frequency resources for downlink between half duplex slots and full duplex slots
  • Network and UE determine the active CFR for a full duplex slot based on configured resources
  • UE can monitor for and receive multicast transmissions in the active CFR in the full duplex slot
      1. Potential Applications:

- Mobile communication networks - Broadcasting systems - Internet of Things (IoT) devices

      1. Problems Solved:

- Efficient multicast message transmission in wireless communications - Optimizing frequency resources for different types of slots

      1. Benefits:

- Improved communication efficiency - Enhanced network capacity - Better resource allocation

      1. Potential Commercial Applications:
        1. Optimizing Wireless Communication Efficiency for Multicast Messages
      1. Possible Prior Art:

There are existing technologies for multicast message transmission in wireless networks, but the specific method of utilizing a common frequency resource in a full duplex slot may be a novel approach.

        1. Unanswered Questions:

1. How does this technology impact battery life in mobile devices? 2. What are the potential security implications of using a common frequency resource for multicast messages?

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques described herein relate to transmission of a multicast message via a common frequency resource (CFR) in a full duplex slot. The CFR may be positioned within the downlink bandwidth parts (BWP)s configured for a group of user equipments (UE)s such that each UE in the group may monitor for and receive the multicast message. The network may indicate the frequency position of the CFR to the group of UEs. The frequency resources (e.g., the resource blocks) configured for downlink for a UE may be different between half duplex slots and full duplex slots. The network and the UE may determine the active CFR for a full duplex slot based on the resources configured for the full duplex slot. The UE may monitor for and receive a multicast transmission in the active CFR in the full duplex slot.
