VEHICLE CONFIGURATION FOR INTEGRATION OF AN ACCESSORY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17948031 titled 'VEHICLE CONFIGURATION FOR INTEGRATION OF AN ACCESSORY

Simplified Explanation

The disclosure simplifies the integration of a peripheral with a vehicle by using a software application to create configuration data for the vehicle electronics based on user inputs.

  • The software application provides a graphical user interface for users to specify rules of behavior for the upfitted vehicle.
  • The configuration data generated by the application is applied to the vehicle electronics to achieve the desired behavior in the upfitted vehicle.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in the automotive industry for integrating various peripherals with vehicles, such as entertainment systems, navigation devices, or safety features.

Problems Solved

1. Simplifies the integration process of peripherals with vehicles. 2. Expands the set of users and enterprises capable of successfully integrating new peripherals with vehicles.

Benefits

1. User-friendly interface for configuring vehicle behavior. 2. Enables customization of vehicle electronics without extensive technical knowledge.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing Vehicle Peripheral Integration Software for Enhanced User Experience

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing systems or methods for integrating peripherals with vehicles, but the use of a software application with a graphical user interface to simplify the process could be a novel approach.

=== What are the technical specifications of the software application described in the patent application? The article does not provide specific technical details about the software application's functionality or requirements.

=== How does the software application ensure compatibility between the peripheral and the vehicle's existing electronics? The article does not explain the mechanism by which the software application ensures compatibility between the peripheral and the vehicle's electronics.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to simplifying the integration of a peripheral with a vehicle. The complexity of modern vehicle electronics means that integration of a peripheral with a vehicle requires a reconfiguration of the vehicle electronics in order for the resultant upfitted vehicle to function as desired by the user. This restricts the set of users and enterprises which are able to successfully integrate a new peripheral with a vehicle. To make the task more approachable, a software application is described which presents a user with a graphical user interface enabling them to specify, at a high-level, rules of behavior for the upfitted vehicle. From the user's inputs via the graphical user interface, the application creates configuration data to be applied to the vehicle electronics in order to produce the desired behavior in the upfitted vehicle.
