METHODS AND APPARATUS TO DETECT LOADS LOST FROM VEHICLES DURING TRANSIT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17947908 titled 'METHODS AND APPARATUS TO DETECT LOADS LOST FROM VEHICLES DURING TRANSIT

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods and apparatus to identify loads lost from vehicles. The apparatus includes memory, machine readable instructions, and processor circuitry to determine load differences and generate alerts for lost load occurrences.

  • The apparatus includes memory, machine readable instructions, and processor circuitry.
  • It determines the first load carried by the vehicle at a first time and the second load carried at a second time.
  • It identifies a lost load occurrence when the load difference between the first and second load satisfies a lost load threshold.
  • It generates an alert indicative of the lost load occurrence.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in transportation and logistics industries to prevent losses of valuable cargo during transit.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in identifying and alerting about lost loads from vehicles, reducing the risk of financial losses and improving overall cargo management.

Benefits

- Improved cargo tracking and management - Prevention of financial losses due to lost loads - Enhanced security and safety measures for transported goods

Potential Commercial Applications

"Load Loss Identification System for Vehicles" could be used in trucking companies, shipping companies, and courier services to enhance cargo monitoring and prevent losses during transportation.

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing systems or methods for tracking and monitoring cargo in vehicles, but the specific approach of using load differences to identify lost load occurrences may be unique to this patent application.

Unanswered Questions

How does the apparatus differentiate between intentional unloading and accidental load loss occurrences?

The patent application does not provide details on how the system distinguishes between intentional unloading of cargo and accidental loss occurrences.

What measures are in place to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the load detection system?

The patent application does not elaborate on the calibration or validation processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the load detection system.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and apparatus to identify loads lost from vehicles are disclosed. An example apparatus to identify a load lost from a vehicle includes at least one memory, machine readable instructions, and processor circuitry to at least one of instantiate or execute the machine readable instructions to determine a first load carried by the vehicle at a first time, determine a second load carried by the vehicle at a second time after the first time, identify a lost load occurrence in response to a load difference between the first load and the second load satisfying a lost load threshold, and generate an alert indicative of the lost load occurrence.
