METHOD FOR INTERNET KEY EXCHANGE PROTOCOL AUTHENTICATION USING CERTIFICATE AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17946542 titled 'METHOD FOR INTERNET KEY EXCHANGE PROTOCOL AUTHENTICATION USING CERTIFICATE AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a method for authenticating Internet Key Exchange (IKE) using a certificate. The method involves parsing a certificate to obtain signature information and filling an AUTH payload field in an IKE AUTH message with this information. The message is then sent to another device. This simplifies user configuration and improves product usability.
- Method for authenticating Internet Key Exchange (IKE) using a certificate
- Parsing a certificate to obtain signature information
- Filling an AUTH payload field in an IKE AUTH message with the signature information
- Sending the IKE AUTH message to another device
- Simplifying user configuration
- Improving product usability
Potential Applications
This technology can be applied in various scenarios where secure authentication is required, such as:
- Virtual private networks (VPNs)
- Secure communication between devices in a network
- Secure access to online services or resources
Problems Solved
The method described in the patent application solves the following problems:
- Complex user configuration for IKE authentication
- Potential errors in manually filling the AUTH payload field
- Inefficient use of certificates for authentication
Benefits
The use of this technology provides several benefits:
- Simplified user configuration process
- Reduced chances of authentication errors
- Improved security through the use of certificates
- Enhanced usability of products or services that rely on IKE authentication
Original Abstract Submitted
This application discloses a method for Internet key exchange protocol (IKE) authentication using a certificate. The method includes: A first device parses a certificate to obtain signature information in the certificate. The first device fills an AUTH payload field in an IKE identity authentication (AUTH) message based on the signature information in the certificate, where signature information indicated by the AUTH payload field matches the signature information in the certificate. The first device sends the IKE AUTH message to a second device. In the method for Internet key exchange protocol IKE authentication using a certificate provided in this application, the first device may automatically parse the signature information in the certificate, and fill the related field of the IKE AUTH message based on the signature information. Therefore, user configuration is simplified and product usability is improved.
