INTER-USER EQUIPMENT COORDINATION FOR BEAMFORMED COMMUNICATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17943692 titled 'INTER-USER EQUIPMENT COORDINATION FOR BEAMFORMED COMMUNICATIONS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications that support inter-user equipment (UE) coordination (IUC) for beamformed communications.

  • First UE receives a sidelink control message with a resource reservation for a second UE using a spatial filter.
  • First UE may also receive a second sidelink control message with a resource reservation for a third UE using a different spatial filter.
  • First UE transmits an IUC message to the second or third UE indicating a conflict between the resource reservations.
  • The conflict may be based on the relationship between the spatial filters used to receive the resource reservations.

Potential Applications

  • 5G and beyond wireless communications systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) networks
  • Smart city infrastructure

Problems Solved

  • Interference management in beamformed communications
  • Efficient resource allocation in wireless networks
  • Enhancing communication reliability and quality

Benefits

  • Improved network performance
  • Enhanced user experience
  • Increased capacity and coverage for wireless networks

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications that support inter-user equipment (UE) coordination (IUC) for beamformed communications are described. A first UE may receive, using a first spatial filter, a first sidelink control message including a first sidelink resource reservation associated with a second UE. Additionally, or alternatively, the first UE may receive, using a second spatial filter, a second sidelink control message including a second sidelink resource reservation associated with a third UE. The first UE may transmit, to the second UE or the third UE, an IUC message that indicates a conflict between the first sidelink resource reservation and the second sidelink resource reservation. The IUC message that indicates a conflict may be based on a relationship between the first spatial filter used to receive the first sidelink resource reservation and the second spatial filter used to receive the second sidelink resource reservation.
