NETWORK CODING GROUP FOR NETWORK CODED SIDELINK TRANSMISSIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17943045 titled 'NETWORK CODING GROUP FOR NETWORK CODED SIDELINK TRANSMISSIONS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of the patent application describes mechanisms for forming a network coding group for coordinated sidelink network coding. This involves wireless communication devices exchanging sidelink messages to establish the network coding group, with capabilities of each device to support sidelink network coding being indicated. A first device in the group then transmits a network coded sidelink transmission containing transport blocks associated with multiple sidelink transmissions to at least a second device in the group, which is an intended recipient of at least one of the transmissions.

  • Wireless communication devices exchange sidelink messages to form a network coding group.
  • Capabilities of devices to support sidelink network coding are indicated in the messages.
  • A first device in the group transmits a network coded sidelink transmission with transport blocks from multiple sidelink transmissions.
  • The transmission is received by at least a second device in the group, which is an intended recipient of at least one of the transmissions.

Potential Applications

  • Enhancing communication reliability in wireless networks.
  • Improving network efficiency through coordinated network coding.

Problems Solved

  • Facilitating the formation of network coding groups for efficient data transmission.
  • Enhancing the overall performance of sidelink communications.

Benefits

  • Increased data transmission efficiency.
  • Enhanced reliability in wireless communication.
  • Improved network coordination and resource utilization.

Original Abstract Submitted

Aspects relate to mechanisms for forming a network coding group for coordinated sidelink network coding. Two or more wireless communication devices may exchange sidelink messages with one another to form the network coding group. For example, the sidelink messages may indicate a respective capability of each of the wireless communication devices to support sidelink network coding. A first wireless communication device within the network coding group may then transmit a network coded sidelink transmission including transport blocks associated with at least a first sidelink transmission and a second sidelink transmission to at least a second wireless communication device in the network coding group. The second wireless communication device is an intended recipient of at least one of the first or second sidelink transmission.
