SIDELINK BEAM FAILURE DETECTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17938453 titled 'SIDELINK BEAM FAILURE DETECTION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes a wireless communication system where a first node transmits a signal to a second node on a beamformed link. The first and second nodes are synchronized in terms of timing. The first node then determines if it receives a second signal from the second node on the same beamformed link. Based on this determination, the first node either transmits a third signal or performs a sidelink beam failure recovery procedure.

  • The first node transmits a signal to the second node on a beamformed link.
  • The first and second nodes are synchronized in terms of timing.
  • The first node determines if it receives a second signal from the second node on the same beamformed link.
  • Based on the determination, the first node either transmits a third signal or performs a sidelink beam failure recovery procedure.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Beamforming technology
  • Sidelink communication

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensuring reliable communication between nodes in a wireless network
  • Recovering from beam failure in sidelink communication

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved reliability of wireless communication
  • Efficient recovery from beam failure in sidelink communication

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first node may transmit, to a second node on a beamformed link from the first node to the second node, a first signal, wherein the first node and the second node are associated with common timing; determine whether a second signal, based at least in part on the first signal, is received on a beamformed link from the second node to the first node; and transmit a third signal based at least in part on receiving the second signal or perform a sidelink beam failure recovery procedure based at least in part on determining that the second signal is not received. Numerous other aspects are provided.
