DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION (DCI) FOR SINGLE DCI AND MULTIPLE DCI TRANSMISSION MODES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17936704 titled 'DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION (DCI) FOR SINGLE DCI AND MULTIPLE DCI TRANSMISSION MODES

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure relates to wireless communication technology, specifically focusing on the configuration of sounding reference signal resource sets and the reception of downlink control information by user equipment.

  • User equipment (UE) receives configuration information from a network node regarding the setup of at least two sounding reference signal resource sets.
  • The UE also receives one or more downlink control information (DCI) communications related to uplink communications.
  • The network node provides an indication to the UE about whether the DCI communications are associated with a single DCI (sDCI) mode or a multiple DCI (mDCI) mode, based on the configuration information.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in:

  • 5G and future wireless communication systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices requiring efficient uplink communication

Problems Solved

This technology helps in:

  • Optimizing uplink communication in wireless networks
  • Enhancing the efficiency of resource allocation in wireless systems

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Improved reliability and performance of uplink communications
  • Enhanced network capacity and throughput
  • Better utilization of resources in wireless networks

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications of this technology include:

  • Telecom equipment manufacturers
  • Network operators and service providers

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art related to this technology is the use of dynamic resource allocation techniques in wireless communication systems to optimize uplink transmission efficiency.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact battery life in user equipment?

The abstract does not mention the impact of this technology on the battery life of user equipment. It would be interesting to know if there are any optimizations in place to minimize power consumption.

Are there any specific requirements for network infrastructure to support this technology?

The abstract does not provide details on the network requirements for implementing this technology. Understanding if there are any specific infrastructure needs could be crucial for deployment.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, configuration information indicating a configuration of at least two sounding reference signal resource sets. The UE may receive one or more downlink control information (DCI) communications associated with one or more uplink communications. The UE may receive, from the network node, an indication of whether the one or more DCI communications are associated with one or both of a single DCI (sDCI) mode or a multiple DCI (mDCI) mode, wherein the indication is based at least in part on the configuration information. Numerous other aspects are described.
