CLASSIFICATION AND VISUALIZATION OF USER INTERACTIONS WITH AN INTERACTIVE COMPUTING PLATFORM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17935390 titled 'CLASSIFICATION AND VISUALIZATION OF USER INTERACTIONS WITH AN INTERACTIVE COMPUTING PLATFORM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for classifying and visualizing user interactions with an interactive computing platform through a graphical user interface (GUI).

  • The GUI displays graphical elements that represent the user interactions and the progression of users through tasks.
  • The graphical elements include visualizations of the user interactions and identified features of the interactions relative to the tasks.
  • Each task is represented by a task element, which is a polygon with vertices corresponding to subtasks and edges between them.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • User experience analysis: The method can be used to analyze and visualize user interactions with a software application or website, helping designers and developers understand how users navigate through tasks.
  • User behavior tracking: The method can track and visualize user interactions with an interactive system, providing insights into user behavior patterns and preferences.
  • Training and education: The graphical interface can be used in training programs or educational platforms to visually represent the progression of users through tasks and provide feedback on their interactions.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Complex data visualization: The method simplifies the visualization of user interactions by representing them as graphical elements, making it easier for users to understand and analyze the data.
  • Task analysis: The method helps in analyzing the progression of users through tasks by visually representing the subtasks and their relationships, allowing for a more detailed analysis of user interactions.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved user experience: The visual representation of user interactions helps designers and developers identify areas for improvement in the user interface and user flow.
  • Enhanced data analysis: The graphical elements provide a clear and intuitive way to analyze user interactions, enabling better decision-making based on user behavior patterns.
  • Efficient task analysis: The method simplifies the analysis of user interactions within tasks, allowing for a more efficient evaluation of user performance and task completion.

Original Abstract Submitted

Classification and visualization of user interactions with an interactive computing platform is provided by building and providing a graphical user interface (GUI) of graphical elements for display on a display device. The graphical elements present (i) visualizations of user interactions between users and an interactive computing platform in progression of the users through tasks based on the user interactions and (ii) identified features of the user interactions relative to the tasks and progression of the users therethrough. The building and providing includes, for each of the tasks, building and providing a respective task element that reflects identified features of a set of user interactions of one or more users in progressing through that task. Building a task element for a task includes building the task element as a polygon having vertices corresponding to subtasks of the task and edges between the vertices.
