METHOD AND APPARATUS TO SUPPORT UE CSI REPORT OF TIME DOMAIN CHANNEL PROPERTIES AND INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17935000 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS TO SUPPORT UE CSI REPORT OF TIME DOMAIN CHANNEL PROPERTIES AND INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENTS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes systems and methods for supporting User Equipment (UE) Channel State Information (CSI) report of time domain channel properties concurrently with Interference Measurement Resources (IMRs) measurements. It addresses Uplink Control Information (UCI) multiplexing, UCI omission, IMR configuration, and phase continuity handling. A CSI report configuration (CSI-ReportConfig) includes details for Channel Measurement Resources (CMRs) and IMRs, which are used to measure time domain channel properties based on a CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) for tracking reference signal (TRS).

  • Channel State Information (CSI) report of time domain channel properties and Interference Measurement Resources (IMRs) measurements are supported concurrently.
  • Considerations are made for Uplink Control Information (UCI) multiplexing, UCI omission, IMR configuration, and phase continuity handling.
  • CSI report configuration includes details for Channel Measurement Resources (CMRs) and IMRs.
  • CMRs are used to measure time domain channel properties based on a CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) for tracking reference signal (TRS).

Potential Applications

- Wireless communication systems - 5G networks - Internet of Things (IoT) devices

Problems Solved

- Efficient handling of UCI multiplexing and omission - Improved configuration and utilization of IMRs - Seamless tracking of reference signals for channel measurements

Benefits

- Enhanced performance of wireless communication systems - Optimal utilization of resources for channel state information reporting - Improved interference measurement accuracy and efficiency

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems and methods are provided for to support user equipment (UE) channel state information (CSI) report of time domain channel properties concurrently with Interference Measurement Resources (IMRs) measurements. Embodiments herein consider Uplink Control Information (UCI) multiplexing, UCI omission, Interference Measurement Resource (IMR) configuration, and phase continuity handling. A CSI report configuration (CSI-ReportConfig) may comprise configuration details for both one or more Channel Measurement Resources (CMRs) and one or more Interference Measurement Resources (IMRs). The CMRs may be used to measure time domain channel properties (TDCP) based on a CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) for tracking reference signal (TRS).
