WAKE UP RADIO AND WAKEUP SIGNALING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17933047 titled 'WAKE UP RADIO AND WAKEUP SIGNALING

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application related to wireless communication, specifically focusing on LP reference signal resources and LP wake up signals for various functions such as tracking, synchronization, error correction, and channel estimation.

  • LP reference signal (LP RS) resources are received from a second network entity for time or frequency tracking, synchronization, error estimation, correction, RRM, or channel estimation.
  • LP wake up signal (LP WUS) is received based on the LP RS resources, associated with monitoring occasions, quasi-co-located with LP RS resources, and associated with specific configurations.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various wireless communication systems, IoT devices, and network infrastructure for improved synchronization, error correction, and resource management.

Problems Solved

This innovation addresses challenges in maintaining accurate time and frequency synchronization, error estimation, and channel estimation in wireless communication systems.

Benefits

The use of LP RS resources and LP WUS can enhance the efficiency and accuracy of various wireless communication functions, leading to improved performance and reliability.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications include telecommunications networks, IoT devices, smart city infrastructure, and industrial automation systems.

Possible Prior Art

Prior art in wireless communication systems may include techniques for synchronization, error correction, and channel estimation using different reference signal resources. However, the specific combination of LP RS resources and LP WUS for various functions as described in this patent application may be novel.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology compare to existing methods for synchronization in wireless communication systems?

This technology offers a novel approach to synchronization using LP RS resources and LP WUS, but it would be beneficial to compare its performance and efficiency with traditional methods.

What are the potential limitations or challenges in implementing LP RS resources and LP WUS in practical wireless communication systems?

While the abstract highlights the benefits of LP RS resources and LP WUS, it would be important to consider any potential drawbacks or obstacles in deploying this technology on a large scale.

Original Abstract Submitted

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products for wireless communication are provided. An example method may include receiving, from a second network entity, one or more LP reference signal (LP RS) resources, where the one or more LP RS resources are configured for at least one of: time or frequency tracking or synchronization, time or frequency error estimation or correction, radio resource management (RRM), or channel estimation. The example method may further include receiving a LP wake up signal (LP WUS) based on the one or more LP RS resources, where the LP WUS is associated with one or more monitoring occasions, where the LP WUS is quasi-co-located with at least one of the one or more LP RS resources, and where the LP WUS is associated with a first configuration and the at least one LP RS resource is associated with a second configuration.
