METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR UL TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17932648 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR UL TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods and apparatuses for uplink transmission in wireless communication systems. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The method involves transmitting information about the number of antenna ports and the transmission of a non-codebook-based physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) from a user equipment (UE).
  • The UE receives a configuration specifying the resources for transmitting sounding reference signals (SRS) for the non-codebook-based PUSCH.
  • The UE then transmits the SRS resources based on the configuration received.
  • The UE receives an indication indicating the selection of a certain number of SRS resources out of the total available.
  • Finally, the UE transmits the non-codebook-based PUSCH based on the selected SRS resources.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems, such as 4G LTE and 5G networks.
  • It can improve the efficiency and reliability of uplink transmission in these systems.
  • The methods and apparatuses described in the patent application can be implemented in user equipment devices, base stations, and other network infrastructure components.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The technology addresses the challenge of efficiently transmitting uplink data in wireless communication systems.
  • It provides a method for selecting and utilizing sounding reference signal (SRS) resources for non-codebook-based physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission.
  • By optimizing the selection and utilization of SRS resources, the technology improves the overall uplink transmission performance.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The technology enables more efficient use of antenna ports and resources for uplink transmission.
  • It improves the reliability and capacity of uplink communication in wireless networks.
  • By optimizing the selection of SRS resources, the technology can enhance the overall system performance and user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and apparatuses for uplink (UL) transmission are disclosed. The method comprises transmitting a UE capability information including information about (i) a number of antenna ports P>4, and (ii) transmission of a non-codebook-based (NCB-based) physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH); receiving a configuration about Nsounding reference signal (SRS) resources for transmission of the NCB-based PUSCH; transmitting the NSRS resources; receiving an indication indicating a selection of k out of NSRS resources; and transmitting the NCB-based PUSCH based on the k SRS resources, wherein: each SRS resource comprises one SRS port, a maximum value of a number of layers (L) for the NCB-based PUSCH transmission is configured, 1≤N≤P, 1≤k≤N, and 1≤k≤L.
