DISPLAY DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17930508 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a display device with a display panel and an input sensor layer. The display panel has a first area that allows an optical signal to pass through and a second area that blocks the optical signal. The first area is divided into a sub-area with high light transmittance and a sub-area with lower light transmittance. The input sensor layer includes a sensing pattern that overlaps the second area and has openings, as well as a sensing pattern that overlaps the first area with larger openings.
- The display device has a display panel with a first area that allows light to pass through and a second area that blocks light.
- The first area of the display panel is divided into a sub-area with high light transmittance and a sub-area with lower light transmittance.
- The input sensor layer of the display device includes a sensing pattern that overlaps the second area and has openings.
- The input sensor layer also includes a sensing pattern that overlaps the first area and has larger openings.
- The larger openings in the second sensing pattern overlap the sub-area with lower light transmittance.
- The input sensor layer allows for touch or gesture input to be detected on the display device.
Potential Applications
- This technology can be used in various types of display devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and touchscreens.
- It can enhance the user experience by allowing for touch or gesture input on the display.
- The display device can be used in interactive kiosks, gaming consoles, and other devices that require user input.
Problems Solved
- The display device solves the problem of allowing touch or gesture input to be detected while also blocking the optical signal in certain areas.
- It provides a solution for creating a display panel with different levels of light transmittance in different areas.
Benefits
- The display device provides a more interactive and intuitive user interface by allowing touch or gesture input.
- It allows for a more immersive and engaging experience in applications such as gaming or interactive presentations.
- The technology offers flexibility in designing display panels with different light transmittance levels in specific areas.
Original Abstract Submitted
In a display device according to the present disclosure, the display device includes a display panel and an input sensor layer. The display panel includes a display area that includes a first area through which an optical signal passes and a second area by which the optical signal is blocked. The first area includes a first sub-area having a first light transmittance and a second sub-area having a second light transmittance lower than the first light transmittance. The input sensor layer includes a first sensing pattern that overlaps the second area and includes first openings, and a second sensing pattern that overlaps the first area. The second sensing pattern includes second openings that overlap the second sub-area and are larger than the first openings, and at least one third opening that overlaps the first sub-area and is larger than the second openings.
